Sonates pour Pianoforte avec l'accompagnement d'un Violon
Among the genres that owe to Mozart their transition into modernity is the sonata for violin and piano. Instead of favouring one of the two instruments by reducing the keyboard to a harmonic underpinning as did the Baroque composers with the notable exception of Bach), or, like many from his time, writing ‘sonatas for
keyboard with violin accompaniment’ he placed the two protagonists onto equal footing, creating a genuine dialogue.
