Rolande Falcinelli, a great pianist, turned organist at the age of 20, is a central figure in French organ playing. Her records are so rare that one cannot afford to miss one. Here we find Dupré’s triumphal Evocation (with a smooth, living rubato) and his pianistic Scherzo in F minor, then Franck (Cantabile and Prayer), and last but not least Vierne (Impromptu and Gargoyles). ‘A precious document.’ Le Monde de la Musique
