Sarah Lavaud

Piano

A student of François-René Duchâble (whose attention she caught when she turned 14), Bruno Rigutto, Nicholas Angelich, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Rena Shereshevskaya, Maria Curcio, Christian Ivaldi and Michaël Levinas, she was awarded the Piano Prize (with the highest honour), the Chamber Music Prize and the Analysis Prize (with the highest honour and the jury’s congratulations) at the Paris Conservatoire. A prizewinner of international competitions (Città di Pinerolo, Francis Poulenc, Maria Canals, Arthur Rubinstein), she plays in renowned concert halls in France (Gaveau Hall, Radio France, Lyon Opera, many festivals including Solistes aux Serres d’Auteuil, Piano en Valois, La Roque d’Anthéron – Resident Ensembles –, Chopin Festivals in Paris and Nohant…) and Europe (Spain, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden), as a soloist or with musicians such as François-René Duchâble, Christian Ivaldi, the violinist Svetlin Roussev, the cellist Ingrid Schoenlaub, the Parisii Quartet.
Wishing to highlight an unrecognized repertoire and to enrich her approach to the stage, she recorded in 2009 (with the support of the Lagardère Foundation, of which she’s a laureate) Koechlin’s Piano Quintet, acclaimed by the critics; she devotes today her first solo CD to Janáček’s piano works, which she has been playing in concert for many years. She explores different kinds of resonances between music and words as part of concert-conferences and musical theater shows.
Since 2012, she has been musical adviser for the festival A la folie… pas du tout ! (Royal Monastery of Brou, France).
