Benjamin Alard

Clavecin-Orgue

Benjamin Alard (Rouen, 1985) first studied organ with Louis Thiry and François Ménissier, as well as harpsichord with Elizabeth Joyé. He was admitted to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland) where he studied organ and harpsichord with, respectively, Jean-Claude Zehnder and Andrea Marcon, graduating cum laude in both disciplines in 2006 (the president of the jury was none other than Gustav Leonhardt).
2004: winner of the seldom awarded First Prize at the 2004 Bruges International Harpsichord Competition and the Audience Prize as well.
2005: Déclic-Cultures France award; appointed organist at Saint Louis en l’Île where he plays on the famous brand new Aubertin organ.
2007: European Council Juventus Prize laureate; winner of the Freiberg Gottfried-Silbermann Organ Competition and Hildebrandt Special Prize of the City of Naumburg.
2008: he was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique Classique Awards.
