Diego Salamanca

Following a full course of study in guitar, Diego Salamanca was trained in lute by Armando Fuentes at Javeriana Universtiy of Bogota, prior to futher study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon in the class of Eugène Ferré, where he received his diplomas. Attracted by the Baroque repertory for lute and plucked stringed instruments, he has devoted himself particularly to 17th- and 18th-century French and German music.
He regularly participates in productions of stage or chamber music as well as recordings. Among others he has performed under the direction of Phillip Picket, Christophe Coin, Gabriel Garrido, William Christie, Kenneth Weiss, Gérard Lesne, Skip Sempé, Alessandro de Marchi and François Lazarevitch. He has had further opportunity to work on lute repertory with Hopkinson Smith, Luciano Contini, José Miguel Moreno and Paul O’Dette.
