Antonino Mollica
Saxophone
Born in Messina (Sicily) where in 2001 Antonino Mollica received a saxophone diploma at the A. Corelli State Conservatory of Music. Attracted by the French saxophone school, he entered the class of Christophe Bois in Bourges where he obtained two Premiers Prix in Saxophone and Chamber Music in 2003 as well as two unanimous Regional Premiers Prix in the same disciplines a year later. As the second Italian admitted to the Paris Conservatory since its creation, he took classes under Gilles Tressos, Claude Delangle and Lazlo Hadady; he obtained a Master in Saxophone Pedagogy as well as the Certificat d’Aptitude in saxophone in June 2010. A winner of several competitions in Italy (the latest being the first grand prize at the Benedetto Albanese Competition in Palermo, 2006), in France (UFAM competition, 2005), Antonino Mollica has performed in several countries: at the Orsay Museum Auditorium, at the Zénith in Paris, at the Cité de la Musique, with which he participates in the Carnet de sons on the building site of the Philharmonie, at the Greek Theatre of Taormina and in China (Shanghai). Several times he has received grants from the Ministry of Culture, the Mécénat Musical division of the Société Générale (2004) and the Meyer Foundation (2009). He presently teaches saxophone at the Conservatory of Cambrai.
