Jérôme Granjon

Piano

With a Premier Prix diploma in piano and chamber music from the Paris Conservatory and winner of the Città di Senigallia competition, Jérôme Granjon has played in numerous countries all over the world.
A curious and passionate musician, Jérôme Grangeon pursues several musical adventures within very diverse repertories, as a soloist and in chamber music, as well as in teaching.
His most recent disc (Anima Records, 2012), devoted to works written around 1912 (Janácek, Debussy, Scriabin, Schoenberg) received critical acclaim (‘a genuine poet of the piano’, as Alain Cochard put it on concertclassic.com). During the 2013-2014 season he gave a complete concert performance of the First Book of J. S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, particularly in Paris and Tokyo, and made his debut in China and Taiwan.
He founded the Hoboken Trio with the violinist Saskia Lethiec and the cellist Eric Picard. Together they recorded several records (the last one which came out in 2013 on Anima Records is devoted to Franco-Spanish music). In the area of contemporary creation, they have championed the works of Maratka, Kaspar and Raynaud. He also plays with the flutist Jean-Michel Varache (record devoted to Mel Bonis with Urtext Classics, 2014), Maria João Pires, Richard Galliano and the Monteverdi Choir under the baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
He is interested in historic instruments, especially the pianoforte, and is in particular the guest in 2015 of the Festival in Besançon/Montfaucon.
Eager to pass on his experience to others, Jérôme Granjon leads masterclasses in France, South Korea, Spain and Brazil and China. He was assistant to Maria Joao Pires at the Belgais Centre for Study of the Arts (Portugal) from 2000 to 2004. Having obtained the Certificat of Aptitude for teaching, he is Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at the Departmental Conservatory (CRD) of Romainville and since January 2015 has directed chamber music seminars at the National Conservatory for Music and Dance in Lyon.
