Vincent Roth

Vincent Roth (born in 1974) began viola study with Sabine Toutain, entering the Paris Conservatory in 1990 in the class of Pierre-Henri Xuereb, in which he obtained his diploma of advanced training with high honours (Premier Prix d’alto). He thereupon enrolled in the class of Vladimir Mendelssohn at the Folkwanghochschule of Essen and obtained there his concert diploma (Konzertexamen) in 1996. In addition he studied harmony and counterpoint with Bernard de Crépy and composition with Jacopo Baboni-Schilingi (co-fonder along with Luciano Berio of the ‘Tempo Reale’ Pedagogy and Research Department in Florence).
He plays in chamber music and as a soloist with the Accroche Note, Stravinsky, In Extremis and Linea Ensembles, and with Les Percussions de Strasbourg as well as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Lorraine. He performs in various festivals: Musica (Strasbourg), Présences (Radio France), Ultraschall (Berlin), Musiques sacrées du monde (Fès, Marocco), Archipel (Geneva), Acanthes (Metz)…
In 2006 he transcribed the Goldberg Variations of J. S. Bach for the ‘Les Siècles’ orchestra (conducted by F.X. Roth), given in concert during the Folles Journées de Nantes, at the Bach en Combrailles festival, and at the Mulhouse Baroque festival.
In 2009 with his father Daniel Roth (organ) he made a duo recording: J. S. Bach, Leclair, Chausson, Ravel, Ney (on the IFO Classics label), followed in 2012 by ’Voix interdites’ by Ahmed Essyad with the Accroche Note ensemble (L’Empreinte Digitale label).
As a holder of the Certificate of Aptitude (CA), Vincent Roth is Professor of Viola at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Metz-Métropole. He gives classes in analysis and chamber music at the CEFEDEM of Lorraine.
